A new partnership: Icelandair and ITA Airways

At Icelandair, we're always looking for new ways to deliver more and better travel opportunities to you. This time around, we're delighted to announce a new codeshare agreement between Icelandair and ITA Airways, which brings new connections and easier access to exciting destinations.

Icelandair and ITA Airways sign a codeshare agreement

Icelandair and ITA Airways Italy have signed a codeshare agreement that will allow customers to seamlessly travel across the two airlines' networks, opening new and exciting travel possibilities. The flights are available for sale from December 18, 2024, with travel starting January 20, 2025.

The initial agreement will open connections via Rome, between Iceland and numerous ITA destinations including Bologna, Florence, Venice, and Naples. This way, both airlines' customers can travel on a single ticket and have their baggage checked through all the way to the final destination.

Icelandair and ITA Airways will further expand the partnership next year and add codeshare via many of the airlines' mutual European gateways. Icelandair has daily flights to Milan and Rome in the summer, and to further complement the new partnership, Icelandair has announced increased wintertime frequency to Rome, flying four times weekly.

Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO:

“We are very pleased to welcome ITA into our esteemed group of airline partners. The codeshare agreement with ITA will offer our customers very convenient connections between the two airlines’ networks. ITA has an extensive route network and is known for excellent customer experience. We look forward to welcoming ITA passengers on board and extending our comprehensive network throughout Italy and beyond.”

Andrea Benassi, General Manager ITA Airways:

“We are pleased to sign this codeshare partnership with Icelandair today. This agreement further enhances ITA Airways’ commercial strategy of growth and opens a privileged access route to all passengers who will benefit from the connectivity via Rome Fiumicino and Reykjavík. This agreement marks the Company's 37th codeshare partnership, an excellent result we have achieved in just over three years.”
