1.1. Seat selection for Icelandair flights is based on the ticketed fare family.
1.1.1. Economy Flex tickets include free seat selection in Economy Front, Central and Rear section of Economy Cabin, subject to availability.
1.1.2. Economy Standard tickets include free seat selection in the Rear section of the Economy Cabin, subject to availability. Seats in the Front and Center section are subject to a fee.
1.1.3. Economy Light tickets are subject to a fee for all seat selection sections in Economy Cabin.
1.2. More Legroom Seats
1.2.1. More Legroom seats offering extra legroom with 34" (pitch) or more are available in the emergency exit rows and other selected rows in Economy Cabin.
1.2.2. All Economy tickets are subject to a fee for More Legroom seat selection.
1.2.3. More Legroom seats are only available on flights operated by Icelandair and are subject to availability.
1.3. Availability for seat selection
1.3.1. Seat selection is available to all Economy passengers until one hour before departure, subject to availability.
1.3.2. More legroom seats can also be purchased on-board subject to availability. Saga Points can only be earned or redeemed against More Legroom seats when the seat is purchased on-board, not prior to travel.
1.3.3. Seat selection is included on certain Icelandair operated flights. If your travel arrangements include carriage by more than one carrier, seat selection may be subject to charges, and the terms and conditions of other carriers may apply.
2.1. Seat selection is available to all passengers travelling on Icelandair, Economy Flex, Economy Standard and for Economy Light for a fee.
2.2. Seat selection included in Economy Standard and Economy Flex is subject to availability at all times. Seat selection within Front, Central and Rear sections regardless of Fare family, is subject to availability at all times. Therefore, seat selections included in a fare family or for a fee cannot be guaranteed.
2.3. If a seat has not been selected before passengers check-in, Icelandair will automatically assign them seats. Icelandair will attempt to seat together, all passengers in a given booking, subject to availability at the time of the seat assignment.
2.4. Flight reservations must be confirmed and ticketed in order to select seats.
2.5. Seat selection is charged per flight segment.
2.6. Seats subject to a fee must be charged and ticketed at the time of selection.
2.7. Seat selection is free for children (aged 2-11) and infants (under 2). More Legroom seats are subject to a fee for children and infants. Some More Legroom seats are not available to children and infants due to operational, security and safety regulations.
2.8. Icelandair reserves the right to change rates and/or terms and conditions of all seat selection products at any time prior to purchase, with or without prior notice.
2.9. Seat selections, subject to a fee, are always associated with the issued ticket and cannot be transferred to another passenger.
3.1. Icelandair reserves the right to modify any seat selection at any time for operational, safety or security reasons. In the event of changes to a seat selection, Icelandair will attempt to reseat passenger in a seat with same or similar seat characteristics.
3.2. Seat selections that are included in Economy Flex and Economy Standard can be modified without a fee at any time until one hour before departure, subject to availability.
3.3. Seat selections, subject to a fee, can be modified for Economy Standard and Economy Flex tickets, subject to availability. In case of ticket changes or new date, Icelandair will attempt to reseat passengers in a seat with same or similar seat characteristics on the new flight subject to availability. 4.1. When a claim for seat selection, subject for a fee, is refundable;
4.1.1. In cases where services are not delivered due to disruptions, changes in aircraft, or modifications to seat selection for operational, safety, or security reasons. This applies only if clause 4.2.4. does not apply.
4.1.2. Voluntary paid upgrades to Saga Premium are refundable.
4.1.3. Pre-purchased seats are refundable for Economy Flex passengers who cancel their ticket before departure, as long as the ticket and service was purchased directly through and issued by Icelandair.
4.1.4. The Icelandair Cancellation Protection Fee purchased for a given journey covers the purchase of seat selection in case of cancellation.
4.2. When a claim for seat selection, subject for a fee, is not refundable;
4.2.1. Voluntary flight or seat selection cancellations for Economy Standard and Economy Light passengers are non-refundable.
4.2.2. When passengers are involuntarily upgraded by Icelandair.
4.2.3. Passengers that do not meet the requirements to sit in the seat category they have selected.
4.2.4. Seat selection fees are not refunded if passengers are re-accommodated to a seat of the same value or higher.
5.1. Requirements that passengers must fulfil to be able to sit in an emergency exit row seats;
5.1.1. A passenger must be 12 years of age or older.
5.1.2. A passenger must be physically and mentally fit to assist in an emergency.
5.1.3. A passenger must have the ability to read and understand verbal instructions given in English.
5.2. For safety and security reasons, passengers may not sit in emergency exit row seats if;
5.2.1. A passenger is pregnant.
5.2.2. A passenger is travelling with infants. Infants are also not eligible for the seat row in front of and behind an emergency exit row.
5.2.3. A passenger requires a seatbelt extension.
5.2.4. A passenger is travelling with a pet in the cabin.
5.3. Passenger must be in good health at the time of check-in, boarding, during the flight and must not be under the influence of any intoxicating substance.
5.4. Icelandair reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine whether a passenger meets the requirements to sit in Emergency Exit seats. If Icelandair determines that a passenger does not meet the requirements, they will be re-assigned, and the seat selection fee will not be refunded.
5.4.1. An exemption can be made if a passenger encounters an unexpected event that occurs after the date of selecting the emergency Exit seat and therefore becomes unable to fulfil the requirements for emergency Exit row seats. Please contact Icelandair for assistance in these cases before departure.
6.1. Special assistance passengers include the following;
6.1.1. Passengers travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) systems.
6.1.2. Passengers who are blind or deaf.
6.1.3. Passengers with an intellectual or developmental disability.
6.1.4. Passengers who require wheelchair assistance or have reduced mobility.
6.1.5. Passengers who require medical clearance to fly.
6.1.6. Passengers travelling with guide dogs or service dogs.
6.2. Icelandair can arrange Unaccompanied Minor service (UMNR) for children who are travelling alone. Unaccompanied minors will be assigned a seat by Icelandair free of charge.
6.3. Please contact Icelandair directly in the need for special assistance in the passengers journey with Icelandair.
