Icelandair Presents “Viewpoint”: A True-to-Life Look at Iceland.

Photos shape how we see the world. We’ve all grown accustomed to the familiar portrayal of Iceland, which resembles something from a postcard: majestic cliffs dotted with puffins and snowy peaks bathed in the northern lights. This vision is only half the story.

Viewpoint is a group exhibition exploring a different side of Iceland. It gathers a diverse range of work by a group of Icelandic artists, each offering their own unique perspective.

The images capture moments often overlooked: chasms in the landscape, desolate fields, mundane urban life, and striking juxtapositions of nature and human presence.

As a part of the exhibit, María Kjartans, the current head of the Association of Icelandic Contemporary Photographers and one of the exhibiting artists, will take part in an artist talk Q&A on the challenges of capturing Iceland’s myriad aspects.

The exhibition will be open for one day and opens at noon. The artist talk will start at 3 PM at NYCH Gallery, where DJ Hermigervill will spin Icelandic tunes, and there will be complimentary drinks. Click here for more information.

We invite you to join us in Chicago to expand your view of our beautiful, multi-faceted island.
