Animal Transportation

• To transport animals other than cats and dogs, or if you are not traveling on the same flight, please contact Icelandair Cargo.
• The following dog breeds are not accepted on Icelandair flights: Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Tosa Inu, and Dogo Argentino. 
• A maximum of 4 animal crates can be carried in the hold of each aircraft. However, 2 animals can share a crate if both are small and of the same species.
• The passenger must provide their own animal crate. We only accept animals in IATA-approved crates. 
• Maximum crate dimensions are 36 in/92 cm (length) x 25 in/64 cm (width) x 27 in/71 cm (height). 
• The combined weight of an animal and its crate may not exceed 88 lb/40 kg.
• Icelandair cannot accept animals in the hold if another carrier is operating part of the route.
• Animals are not allowed on Stopovers.
• The owner assumes all risk of injury to, or sickness or death of, any such animal accepted for transportation. 
• The owner is responsible for any damages caused by the animal.
• The passenger must be in possession of all documents required by the authorities of the country of transit and/or destination. Icelandair will not be held responsible if entry into or passage through any country is denied. Customers should contact the appropriate consulate or embassy to make sure that all necessary procedures are followed.

Transit at Keflavik Airport:

• Due to Icelandic regulations from the Ministry of Agriculture, animals in transit are not allowed to be in contact with other animals or passengers in the airport.
• The airport has a facility where the animal can be taken to do their needs while in transit since animals are not allowed outside of the airport.

• Many countries require a mandatory quarantine of animals upon entry. It is the responsibility of the passenger to determine the requirements of the country being entered. Please contact the embassy of the destination to determine if traveling with an animal is permitted before the animal is booked.  Icelandair will not be held responsible if entry into or passage through any country is denied.
• Cats and dogs brought to Iceland need to be cleared for import by MAST and comply with the quarantine stations' admission dates. 

Special rules for animals transport to/via the UK/Ireland 

• All animals traveling to the United Kingdom/Ireland must be transported with Icelandair Cargo. Please contact Icelandair Cargo for further information on the transport of animals to the United Kingdom/Ireland.

• Pour réserver le transport d’un animal en soute, veuillez contacter le service réservations d’Icelandair. Pour confirmer la réservation du transport d’un animal, il sera demandé au passager de fournir les dimensions et le poids exacts de la cage (incluant le poids de l’animal à l’intérieur).
• Les chiens et les chats sont les seuls animaux autorisés en soute sur les vols Icelandair. N’oubliez pas que les chats sont autorisés uniquement en soute, pas en cabine.
• Les dimensions maximales de la cage sont de 91 cm (36 po) (L) x 63 cm (25 po) (l) x  71 cm po) (H). Le poids combiné de l’animal et de sa cage ne doit pas dépasser 40 kg (88 lb). 
• Les passagers doivent fournir eux-mêmes la cage dans laquelle leur animal voyagera. Nous n’acceptons que les animaux dans des cages homologuées IATA.
• De nombreux pays exigent une période de quarantaine obligatoire lors de l’arrivée d’animaux sur leur territoire. Le passager a la responsabilité de déterminer les exigences du pays de destination. Contactez l’ambassade du pays de destination pour savoir si le voyage avec un animal est autorisé avant de le faire indiquer dans votre réservation de vols.
