An eBagtag or electronic bagtag is a paperless, electronic alternative to the paper bagtag that is usually placed on your bag at check-in. It includes the same information as the paper version with the added benefit of giving you the option of checking your bags in before arriving at the airport, enabling you to head straight to baggage drop-off.

At the moment, we support the bagtags provided by BAGTAG.
Is the eBagtag compatible with all flights?
Currently, the electronic bag tag is only supported on flights operated by Icelandair, including connecting flights through Keflavik.

How do I activate the eBagtag?
Download the BAGTAG app, available in Google Play Store and App store, and follow the steps in the app. Make sure that Bluetooth and internet are functioning correctly.
When can I update the eBagtag?
You can check-in your baggage through the BAGTAG app after you have finalized your own check-in. We recommend to use the online check-in.
How will baggage be weighed?
Baggage will be weighed at the bag drop. You will be charged a heavy bag fee, if the bag turns out to be too heavy.
What do I need to be able to use the eBagtag provided by BAGTAG?
Any mobile phone running on Android 5.0 or higher, or iPhone running on iOS 11.0 or higher. The BAGTAG requires a mobile phone equipped with NFC to update the electronic bag tag correctly.
How do I attach the eBagtag to a bag?
BAGTAG Fix: There are two ways to attach the BAGTAG to a bag. The first is with the designated baggage belt (watch video). The second is by attaching the device directly to the bag (watch video).
BAGTAG Flex: Wrap the BAGTAG strap around any baggage handle and insert the strap in the back slot of the device. Make sure the BAGTAG is securely attached by tightening the strap (watch video).
Can I use the eBagtag on multiple bags?
The BAGTAG Flex is flexibly attached to the bag and can be used on multiple bags. Using the security pin that comes with the BAGTAG Flex, the device can be unlocked and reattached to any other bag.
How do I detach the BAGTAG Flex from a bag?
Unlock the BAGTAG Flex by inserting the security pin in the provided slot located on the right side of the device. Applying pressure into the hole will unlock the device and release the strap (watch video).
Is it possible to share the eBagtag with others?
Yes, the eBagtag is not restricted to one user.For security reasons, the eBagtag will be locked 2 hours after the arrival of the previous flight. After 2 hours, the eBagtag can be used again.
How do I transfer flight information to the eBagtag?
The baggage label is transferred to the eBagtag from within the BAGTAG mobile app. You can check-in your bag through the app after you have completed your check-in.
Where can I find the NFC-location on a phone?
Depending on which brand of smartphone and which model you are using, the NFC antenna may be located somewhere else on the device. The position of the NFC chip in the mobile phone may differ. See below an example of the possible NFC-location of an Apple and Android phone.
How can I remove flight information from the eBagtag when not traveling?
You can clear the eBagtag’s display after a flight or if you are not planning on using the device on an upcoming trip
BAGTAG Fix: Press the button on the device three consecutive times. The flight information will disappear, and a default screen will come up. By pressing it three consecutive times again, the flight information will reappear.
BAGTAG Flex: to remove the flight information of the BAGTAG Flex, locate the device in the BAGTAG app and choose the “try out this tag” option. After scrolling down, a test flight “clear BAGTAG” is displayed. Choose this option and follow the steps in the BAGTAG app to clear the display (clearing the display works the same as updating a BAGTAG).
Is it possible to update the eBagtag when checking in through desktop or laptop?
No, to update the eBagtag, a mobile phone and the BAGTAG app is required to transfer the flight information.
My eBagtag is not working. What should I do?

On an Android phone I keep getting error messages when trying to connect to the eBagtag. How can this be solved?
Android phones use varying Bluetooth protocols. With some phones, you have to clear your "Bluetooth memory" before connecting to your eBagtag. Doing this generally involves the following steps: go to Settings > Apps, reveal System Apps, and search for Bluetooth share (this can be named differently depending on model and brand). Tap storage in the Bluetooth share information, select the 'clear data' option and reboot your phone.
I have checked in, but the option of the electronic bag tag is not given in the BAGTAG app. What should I do?
The possibility is that you have checked in for a flight that does not allow the usage of an electronic bag tag. Check BAGTAG’s website for supported airlines. If your other airline is in the list of supported airlines, please be in contact with them for assistance. eBagtags are supported on all Icelandair operated flights.
The BAGTAG app is not working. What should I do?

My bags did not arrive. What should I do?

The eBagtag is ‘’locked’’
The moment an eBagtag is updated, it will be "locked." This lock is on the eBagtag along with the email and name of the passenger. The lock is active from 48 hours before departure time and 24 hours after departure time and is only set if the flight is in the future.
The user receives an email (confirmation message) with details about the update and an unlock link.
Within the lock period, only someone with the same email and passenger name can update the eBagtag. If the eBagtag is used during this period with a different email address and/or passenger name, the update will be blocked.
