Important Information – Volcano Hike

Is visiting a volcanic site safe for everyone? Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Icelandic Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management’s public guidance for hikers so you are fully prepared for the environs that can be expected to and at the eruption site. This Iceland Monitor article has advice on who should or shouldn’t consider the journey. How should I prepare and what must I bring with me to enjoy this experience to its fullest? A local landowner started a new site providing expert information on what to bring and more.

Reykjavik Excursions, the operator of the Guided Iceland Volcano Hike, will follow the recommendations of Iceland’s Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management. This is not limited to potential tour cancellations if circumstances at the eruption site are deemed unsafe. Be aware that the weather can change quickly.

Iceland is just around the corner! Board your Icelandair flight for the overnight to our hub at Keflavík International Airport. Have a window seat? Keep your eyes peeled as you just may catch some views of the volcano site!

Day2

Welcome to Iceland! Book your FlyBus Airport Transfers in advance for the transfer to your Reykjavik hotel. Normal check-in times are in the afternoon, but you can wait in your room for your COVID test result if an early check-in is available.

If your COVID test result is negative, the rest of the day is open to you! Explore Reykjavík and find out what makes it so charming. We suggest checking out our day tours available for booking, including whale watching, city tours and more!

Day3

Today is the big day for the included Guided Iceland Volcano Tour! Don’t forget to be outside your hotel entrance no later 12:30pm for your pick-up by Reykjavík Excursions. In the morning, why not check out the country from high above? The new FlyOver Iceland ride is a not-to-be-missed experience, featuring a 20-metre spherical wraparound screen and full-motion seating that soars, dips and turns while you feel the rush of wind through your hair, this brand new destination has proven very popular with both tourists and locals alike!

Today you'll visit the beautiful Blue Lagoon for some rest and relaxation. Cleanliness is a fundamental aspect of any geothermal spa experience and a full body shower is absolutely essential prior to entering the spa area. Open and private shower cubicles are available in both male and female changing rooms. Private lockers for your clothing and/or backpack are also included in the changing rooms. You can stay at the Blue Lagoon as long as you would like on that day, as return buses to hotels operate frequently and are included in the package.
