Hot springs and cool northern lights, each a unique experience on their own.
While nature prepares to color the sky with the magical northern lights, you'll enjoy relaxing in Fontana’s three open-air, natural steambath rooms built over a natural hot spring, with temperatures ranging between 40°C and 50°C (104°F and 122°F), depending on the temperature of the hot springs and the weather. If a traditional Finnish sauna is more to your liking, you’ll enjoy lower humidity than the steam rooms, but with higher temperatures between 80°C and 90°C (176°F and 194°F).
Looking to enjoy the scenic outdoor views? Settle into either of the two hot pools or hot tub, perfect for both relaxation and recreation and featuring playful artwork in stone made by Icelandic artist Erla Thorarinsdottir. Those more adventurous, can take a dip in Laugarvatn lake (when available) for a cool down between the steam baths and sauna.
Refreshed in body and spirit, you'll head back to Reykjavík – weather permitting - with a search for the northern lights dancing in the sky. Keep in mind: while admission to Fontana is included, along with shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner in the changing rooms, don’t forget your own towel and swimsuit, as those are not! A local-style buffet for dinner is available to purchase separately during your time at Fontana.
Personal travel insurance is not included and is highly recommended. It can be arranged through Allianz Global Assistance for passengers originating in the United States and Canada.
